(Salt Lake City-AP) -- Elizabeth Smart's father calls his daughter's safe return a miracle.

An emotional Ed Smart spoke with reporters tonight, just hours after 15-year-old Elizabeth was found safe after an eight-month ordeal.

Smart says his daughter is well. It's the first time he's seen her since she was taken from her bedroom in the middle of the night last June. She was found today in suburban Sandy.

Ed Smart says he held his daughter the whole way up to the Salt Lake City police department.

Ed Smart says all the missing children out there deserve to be returned safely to their families as Elizibeth was.
