In any given profession, it's always nice to have a mentor who can help guide you. Networking opportunities can be a valuable asset for growth in your current job or for future job prospects.
Women in the field of commercial real estate now have the opportunity for both through an organization known as Commercial Real Estate Women Utah or CREW Utah. Suzanne Kennedy with Metro National Title, president of the Utah chapter, says the organization's main purpose is to provide education, mentoring and networking opportunities for women in commercial real estate. Monthly meetings feature presentations and discussions from real estate experts willing to share their knowledge.
Thirteen women with diverse commercial real estate backgrounds founded CREW Utah in 2007. Suzanne became involved with the organization through an affiliation with a CREW Utah member, which is how many people end up joining. Women are drawn to CREW's valuable networking opportunities. The education received at the monthly events and personal growth gained by serving on a committee or the board are more of the benefits of joining the organization.
Being one of the newer chapters — CREW Utah is the 61st of the 71 chapters within the CREW Network, the national organization — Suzanne says CREW has grown in many areas over the past few years. It has an enthusiastic, hard-working board as well as very organized committees. Membership numbers increase annually as the group continues to build community awareness. Each year CREW Utah assists local charities that focus on helping women. This year the charity is People Helping People.
Suzanne hopes CREW Utah can continue growing throughout the state. As the chapter grows, she would also like to develop involvement with the national CREW Foundation to build an even greater network for women in commercial real estate.
