We live in a bargain-based society where consumers are constantly on a search for the lowest price and the best deal. In the current economic climate, saving money has become more important than ever. Everyone is tightening their belt and looking for money-saving tips or special deals. Keith Rossberg is only too happy to help out with that process through his business, CityDEALS.com.
Back in 2004, Jeff Stucki and Keith for the idea to start a company designed to be a deal engine. Customers could use the site to search for deals then purchase discounted gift cards either for themselves or as a gift. Gift certificates are often sold for as much as a 50 percent discount. Revenue from products sold would go directly back to the merchant. It took a little time for the concept to catch on, but as more businesses saw the benefit in what CityDEALS.com was offering, they joined the company.
Today, CityDEALS.com represents around 400 local companies and 200 national brands. The site is designed so users enter the type of cuisine or product they're looking for and the city they live in and a search engine brings up digital deals the consumer might be interested in. The deals can be printed out as a coupon or sent to someone's phone. If the user is purchasing the items as a gift, they can be mailed directly to the recipient for a small fee.
Keith says the company has really taken off in the last two years because of the recession and because getting deals is in vogue. CityDEALS.com has become a way for restaurants to more easily fill empty tables and for retailers to move inventory that wasn't selling. The company originally launched in Salt Lake City but is now growing city by city across the country. Within the next few years, Keith anticipates CityDEALS.com will be in every major city in the U.S.A.
Because CityDEALS.com is such an original concept, Keith considers himself and Jeff as pioneers for launching it. The company is constantly evolving, especially as it continues to collect satisfied customers.
