One of the most frustrating tech-related scenarios imaginable would be to turn on your computer one day only to discover your hard drive has failed. All the irreplaceable information contained on it — pictures, music, important documents — is lost. What can you do?

With help from a company such as Utah Data Recovery, things might not be as bad as they seem. Logan-based Utah Data Recovery can recover information from any hard disc or flash-based drive. Company president Jamie Forbush says the business can also assist with civil litigations to recover information that has been erased or damaged by someone trying to conceal their activities.

Utah Data Recovery is a subsidiary of United Computer Services. UCS started in 1975 to provide computer sales and customizations, but it eventually expanded to offer networking services for small- and medium-sized businesses throughout Northern Utah. In 2004, the company was getting so many requests for help with hard drive failures that it began offering basic hard drive recovery.

It was an arduous process because sometimes the failed hard drive had to be sent to a specialized clean-room lab far away to recover the information. Over time, the UCS owner became good friends with the recovery lab owner, accepted the opportunity to purchase 20-plus years of research and specialized proprietary equipment. This enabled the company to offer hard drive recovery services at the same level as the other professional clean-room recovery labs.

Utah Data Recovery has saved many businesses from frustration and despair by recovering lost critical information from a computer drive failure. Jamie says Utah Data Recovery is one of the only full-fledged data recovery labs within the Intermountain West, and the company does business all along the Wasatch Front.
