Hartman was initially ejected for roughing Ottawa's Tim Stutzle late in the second period of the teams' game Saturday night. This is Hartman's fifth suspension and fourth since April 2023. John Shumate, who sparked Notre Dame to the 1974 upset of UCLA that snapped the Bruins' record 88-game winning streak, has died. He was 72. Notre Dame announced that Shumate died on Monday. Shumate played at Notre Dame from 1971-74 and was the No. 4 overall pick in the 1974 NBA draft. He remained in the NBA through 1981 before beginning a lengthy coaching career. He collected 24 points and 11 rebounds while dueling with Bill Walton when Notre Dame stunned UCLA 71-70 on Jan. 19, 1974, to end the longest winning streak in Division I men's basketball history.

Former major league infielder Rich Dauer has died at 72. He played a decade in the major leagues and won a World Series as a player with Baltimore and as a coach with Houston. The Orioles announced Dauer's death Monday. They did not announce a cause of death. Dauer was a first base coach for the Astros when they won the World Series in 2017. Shortly after that, he had emergency surgery on a blood clot in his brain. MLB.com reported in 2023 that he had recently had a significant stroke. Dauer played for the Orioles from 1976-85. The team won the World Series in 1983.

In an email to the members of the future executive committee of the 2030 Games seen by The Associated Press, Fourcade said they have not been able to bridge differences on topics such as "the mode of governance, the vision, the territorial roots." Fourcade moved on to Olympic politics after a glorious biathlon career during which he won six Olympic gold medals. He was elected in 2022 to be an IOC member by fellow athletes and was part of the organizing committee of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

'I felt disrespected' Hermoso says after World Cup kiss from former Spain soccer boss

Spain forward Jenni Hermoso has testified at Luis Rubiales' trial in Madrid that she did not consent to being kissed by the country's former top soccer official after winning the 2023 Women's World Cup. Rubiales is accused of sexual assault and of trying to coerce Hermoso to publicly support him after the incident in Sydney. The 47-year-old has denied the charges but was forced to resign and banned by FIFA for three years. The trial in Madrid's High Court is expected to last at least 10 days. Man falls 20 feet after ski lift chair dislodges at New Hampshire resort

New Hampshire authorities say a man riding a ski lift fell about 20 feet to the ground after his chair detached. The state fire marshal's office says the man suffered non-life-threatening injuries Sunday and was taken to a hospital after the fall at the Attitash Mountain Resort in Bartlett. The marshal's office says it appears a mechanical failure caused one of the chairs to dislodge from the cable. No one else was hurt. The Flying Bear lift is closed as the investigation by the marshal's office and the Passenger Tramway Safety Board continues. A spokesperson for Colorado-based Vail Resorts, which owns Attitash, says the resort does daily lift inspections.
