Peterson critical of Cardinals QB Kyler Murray in podcast
11/30/2022 7:50pm
said on his "All Things Covered" podcast that "Kyler Murray don't care about nobody but Kyler Murray." The Cardinals quarterback took to social media to fire back at Peterson, saying "if you really felt like this as a "big bro" or "mentor" you supposed to call me and tell me, not drag me so your podcast can grow…" Peterson and Murray were teammates during the 2019 and 2020 seasons, which were Murray's first two in the NFL.
Raiders defensive line hopes to build on recent progress
11/30/2022 7:07pm
The Las Vegas Raiders' defensive line began to show improvement Nov. 20 against the Denver Broncos. The line played even better in Sunday's 40-34 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Tackles Andrew Billings and Bilal Nichols combined for 1 1/2 sacks of the Seahawks' Geno Smith. They also were instrumental in holding the Seahawks to 65 yards rushing. Now the question is whether the line can maintain its level of play from those two games.
Under pressure: Chargers, Herbert look to minimize sacks
11/30/2022 6:24pm
Justin Herbert has gone from being one of the league's best-protected quarterbacks to the most-sacked in the span of two weeks. The Chargers signal-caller was sacked only 12 times in Los Angeles' first nine games, but he went down nine times against Kansas City and Arizona. Herbert is tied with New England's Mac Jones for most sacks taken the past two weeks. Coach Brandon Staley says sometimes Herbert is right to take a sack instead of forcing the ball down the field. Some of the Chargers' trouble protecting Herbert can be blamed on injuries.
Broncos come to Russell Wilson's defense over latest insult
11/30/2022 6:06pm
Russell Wilson's teammates are coming to his defense over the latest barb directed at Denver's disappointing quarterback. Dalton Risner and Justin Simmons dismissed a report on an NFL Network podcast that Wilson has lost some members of the Broncos locker room. Coach Nathaniel Hackett also said he didn't give any credence to the suggestion that there was any rift in the locker room over the offense's season-long struggels. For his part Wilson said he didn't sense any division in the locker room, either.
49ers DE Nick Bosa provides reason for concern for Dolphins
11/30/2022 5:45pm
Miami coach Mike McDaniel spent enough time with Nick Bosa during his time as an assistant in San Francisco to know what he'll be dealing with when he faces his former team for the first time. Bosa has developed into one of the top pass rushers in the game thanks in part to a devotion to the craft that McDaniel joked had him practicing pass rush moves on hand sanitizers, lecterns and almost any other inanimate objects in his way. Bosa has 11 1/2 sacks and 30 quarterback hits so far this season for the 49ers.
Vikings hoping to get healthy again at cornerback
11/30/2022 5:44pm
For three straight weeks, the Minnesota Vikings have started a different cornerback because of injuries. The Vikings are hoping the turnover at the position opposite veteran Patrick Peterson is mostly over. Cameron Dantzler Sr., who started the first eight games, is eligible to return next week after recovering from an ankle injury. Minnesota has allowed the most passing yards per game in the NFL, including more than 300 yards in each of the three games without Dantzler. He has one more week before he returns from injured reserve. Duke Shelley or Akayleb Evans could start Sunday against the New York Jets.
Seahawks land 2019 1st-rounder Johnathan Abram off waivers
11/30/2022 5:38pm
The Seattle Seahawks claimed safety Johnathan Abram off waivers, adding depth to a position that's been thinned by injuries. Abram was a first-round selection of the Raiders in 2019, but fell out of favor with a new coaching regime in Las Vegas this season. Abram started 27 games during the 2020-21 seasons and had 116 tackles last season with the Raiders. Abram was claimed by Green Bay three weeks ago and appeared in two games with the Packers with almost all his playing time coming on special teams. Abram was released on Tuesday and his claim by the Seahawks is a low-risk move that could provide some depth with first-round talent to the position.
Lamar Jackson limited at practice because of quad injury
11/30/2022 5:32pm
Lamar Jackson was limited during Baltimore's practice because of a quad injury. The star quarterback hasn't missed a game this season. Cornerback Marlon Humphrey did not practice Wednesday because of an ankle injury. The Ravens also listed three players who did not participate because of illness. Those were tight end Nick Boyle and tackles Daniel Faalele and Patrick Mekari. Safety Kyle Hamilton, tackle Ronnie Stanley and tight end Isaiah Likely were limited. Baltimore hosts the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
FANTASY PLAYS: Players to start and sit for NFL Week 13
11/30/2022 5:28pm
Given that Aaron Rodgers has said he plans to play in Week 13, he is projected as if he will start and play the full game. Is Kansas City's Isiah Pacheco a no-brainer start? He's getting close. Pacheco had only a 54.2% snap rate last week, but had 22 carries and a target on 39 snaps for a 59.0% opportunity-per-snap rate. Let's check in on Michael Pittman since Matt Ryan returned as the Colts' starter. In the past three games, Pittman has averaged 9.0 targets (which is a 30.0% target share). The results: just 63.0 yards per game and one total touchdown. He now draws a matchup against a Cowboys team that ranks in the top 10 in adjusted fantasy points per target allowed to receivers.
Rodgers says he'd have open mind if Packers ask him to rest
11/30/2022 5:06pm
Aaron Rodgers said he'd have an open mind if the Green Bay Packers get eliminated from playoff contention and team officials approach him about resting to allow more game reps for his backup, Jordan Love. He's just hoping the Packers make it a moot point by winning out. Rodgers has played through a broken right thumb for Green Bay's last seven games and left the Packers' 40-33 loss at Philadelphia on Sunday with injured ribs. The Packers still have faint playoff hopes heading into their game Sunday at Chicago. Rodgers says he expects to play, although he might need to wear protective gear for his ribs.
Jets CB duo of Gardner, Reed ready for Vikings, Jefferson
11/30/2022 4:52pm
The New York Jets' cornerback duo of D.J. Reed and rookie Sauce Gardner has been one of the NFL's best during the first half of the season. They have routinely shut down opposing receivers, transforming one of New York's weaknesses a year ago into one of its biggest strengths. Reed and Gardner will be tested again Sunday when they take on the Vikings in Minnesota, which has perhaps the league's top wide receiver in Justin Jefferson. Coach Robert Saleh says it will be a big challenge, but he'll put his guys up against anybody else in the league.
Ravens OC Roman in contact with Stanford about vacancy
11/30/2022 4:45pm
Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman has been in contact with Stanford about its coaching vacancy. Ravens coach John Harbaugh confirmed that. Stanford is in the market for a new coach after David Shaw stepped down. Harbaugh said he thinks the talks are very preliminary right now. Roman is in his fourth season as Baltimore's offensive coordinator. He was an assistant at Stanford for two seasons from 2009 to 2010 under Harbaugh's brother Jim.
Beckham to kick off free-agent tour by visiting Giants
11/30/2022 4:43pm
Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will kick off what is anticipated to be a three-city free agency tour when he meets Thursday with the New York Giants, the team that drafted him in 2014. Beckham is expected to talk with coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen. Medical personnel also will examine his left knee. Beckham has torn the ACL in the knee twice, the last time in the Super Bowl in February while playing for the champion Los Angles Rams. He has been rehabbing the knee and is looking for a job. Beckham is also expected to visit the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys.
Fields' status for Bears still in question with Packers next
11/30/2022 4:36pm
Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields' status for Sunday's game against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers remains in question because of an injury to his nonthrowing shoulder. Fields practiced Wednesday on a limited basis after missing last week's loss at the New York Jets. He threw lightly on the field prior to that game but did not play. Fields separated his left shoulder and suffered some ligament damage in the AC joint when he was tackled on a designed run late in Chicago's loss at Atlanta two weeks ago. He participated in practice on a limited basis leading up to the game at New York.
Big 12 title game RBs look different, have similar results
11/30/2022 3:36pm
TCU's Kendre Miller and Kansas State's 5-foot-6 dynamo Deuce Vaughn have much different body types. But the third-year running backs that will be featured in the Big 12 championship game Saturday look pretty similar in what they do on the field. Like Vaughn, the 6-foot, 220-pound Miller can be shifty, elusive and quick. Vaughn can also be hard to tackle and doesn't shy from contact even though he is nearly 50 pounds lighter. Vaughn has 1,295 yards rushing. Miller has rushed for 1,260 yards and 16 touchdowns, running for a score in every game this season for third-ranked TCU.

Kitna was booked in the Alachua County Jail, where he was awaiting a first appearance in front of a judge Thursday morning. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney. The Gators suspended Kitna indefinitely about an hour after his arrest.
Giants feel pressure to restart stalled running game
11/30/2022 3:34pm
The New York Giants have had a simple formula for success under first-year coach Brian Daboll. When they can run ball well, throw it on their terms and play good defense, they've won seven times in 11 games. But the Giants are on a bad run now. They have lost three of four and were held to 90 yards rushing or fewer in those defeats. The Giants have averaged nearly 177 yards rushing in their wins and 106 in their losses. One reason the running game has struggled lately is injuries to Tight end Daniel Bellinger and rookie right tackle Evan Neal.

11/30/2022 1:51pm
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes showed up bright-eyed and energetic for practice on Wednesday, two days after his wife Brittany gave birth to the couple's second child. Patrick "Bronze" Mahomes III arrived on Monday, giving 1-year-old Sterling a big brother. Mahomes said the new baby won't affect his preparation for one of the most important games on the Chiefs' remaining schedule. They head to Cincinnati on Sunday for a rematch of the AFC title game, when the Chiefs built a 21-3 lead and still led 21-10 at halftime before watching the Bengals rally for a 27-24 victory.

11/30/2022 1:42pm
Seven-time All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald will miss a game because of injury for the first time in his NFL career when his Los Angeles Rams host Seattle. Donald has a high ankle sprain from the Rams' loss at Kansas City, and Los Angeles coach Sean McVay ruled him out Wednesday. The defending Super Bowl champion Rams will attempt to snap a five-game skid against the Seahawks with a severely depleted roster. Receivers Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson are also out with injuries, and quarterback Matthew Stafford remains in the concussion protocol after missing two of the past three games.
Deal finalized to divide Rams settlement money in St. Louis
11/30/2022 1:41pm
A plan to divide more than a half-billion dollars in settlement money for the departure of the NFL's Rams from St. Louis has received final approval. On Wednesday, the board of the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Authority, which owns the domed stadium where the Rams played before leaving for Los Angeles in 2016, approved the agreement announced last week. The city of St. Louis will receive $250 million, St. Louis County will get $169 million and the RSA will receive $70 million. Another $30 million will help pay for expansion of the America's Center convention center, which is attached to the dome. Although the dome is in the city of St. Louis, county taxpayers helped pay for it.
Terrell Owens says man he punched at CVS threatened him, fan
11/30/2022 1:32pm
Retired NFL star Terrell Owens said a fight caught on camera in which he punched a man in a CVS parking lot was the result of an "aggressor" threatening him and a fan he was talking to at the California store. Owens told The Associated Press in a statement he acted in self-defense Saturday when the man "made offensive gestures and threatening statements" to him and a fan. Owens said the man "swung at me first" before he "felt obligated to prevent the aggressor from becoming more violent." TMZ first reported the fight and published a witness' video. It was unclear Wednesday whether police were called to the scene.
Bears safety Jackson to miss rest of season with foot injury
11/30/2022 1:14pm

Coach Matt Eberflus says the Bears are not sure if Jackson will need surgery to repair the Lisfranc injury. The Bears placed Jackson on injured reserve on Tuesday. He was hurt in the second quarter of Sunday's loss to the Jets. Leading receiver Darnell Mooney also suffered a season-ending ankle injury in that game. The Bears placed safety Dane Cruikshank on injured reserve on Wednesday. They signed quarterback Tim Boyle from Detroit's practice squad to the active roster, with Justin Fields recovering from a left shoulder injury and Trevor Siemian dealing with a strained oblique.

Hadl spent most of his professional career with the San Diego Chargers, leading them to three AFL title games before the league merged with the NFL. He also played for the Packers, Rams and Oilers.
Stakes high for Bills and Patriots entering latest matchup
11/30/2022 12:33pm
The most recent time the Bills faced the Patriots, they left little doubt about their status as the pacesetter in the AFC East. Buffalo walked off the field with a 47-17 win in the wild-card round of the playoffs this past January, demoralizing a New England team that was celebrating being back in the postseason after a one-year absence. The Bills will look to add to their recent run of success in a rivalry once dominated by the Patriots during their latest trip to New England. Buffalo enters Thursday night's matchup the winners of three of the past four regular-season meetings.

Armstead will not require surgery.

11/30/2022 11:54am
Deshaun Watson is ready to play, not talk. Cleveland's starting quarterback didn't address the media before practicing for the first time since being reinstated by the NFL from his 11-game suspension stemming from accusations of sexual misconduct. Watson has been accused of harassment and assault by more than two dozen women for his actions during massage therapy sessions. Watson will make his debut for the Browns on Sunday against the Houston Texans, who traded him to Cleveland in March. The 27-year-old Watson accepted the league ban, a $5 million fine and agreed to undergo therapy and counseling.

Pitts was hurt in a Nov. 20 win over the Bears and placed on injured reserve amid reports that he sustained a torn MCL. Smith said Pitts is expected to make a full recovery ahead of next season. Pitts was a Pro Bowler as a rookie, but he had just 28 receptions for 356 yards and two TDs this season.
Allen, Bills look to notch 3rd straight win over Patriots
11/30/2022 11:28am
Buffalo and New England are jockeying for playoff position in a tight AFC East race as they prepare to meet for the first time this season. The road team has reigned supreme in recent meetings, taking each of the past three matchups. Buffalo won the second regular-season meeting last season and then blew out New England in the wild-card round of the playoffs. The Bills enter this game in second place in the division, but are 0-2 against AFC East foes with losses at Miami and to the New York Jets. The Bills already lost to Miami and the New York Jets and will face all three of their division rivals over the next three weeks as the jumbled AFC East has a chance to send four teams to the playoffs.
UNC's Maye rides star-making season into ACC title game
11/30/2022 9:30am
Drake Maye has put up big numbers all season for No. 24 North Carolina. Now he has a chance to lead the Tar Heels to something more: an Atlantic Coast Conference championship. The second-year passer leads the high-scoring Tar Heels into Saturday's ACC title game against No. 10 Clemson. He had stirred national buzz as a possible Heisman Trophy candidate before two losses to close the regular season. But Maye still has a chance to lead UNC to its first ACC title since 1980. Maye ranks among the nation's most prolific passers in his first season as a starter.
