(KSL Sports) Utah State head football coach Brent Guy understands his team is going up against an incredibly talented football team this week.
The 7th/8th ranked BYU Cougars travel to Logan to take on the Aggies this Friday night renewing their in-state rivalry.
When asked how he hopes to slow down the Cougar offense, Guy simply state, "I think your offense stays on the field."
Guy says the key is to limit the number of possessions the Cougars get. "We can't go three and out and give them more opportunities against our defense," Guy said. "You can't shorten the field for them. You can't give them a lot of opportunities because Max is not making many mistakes."
Guy also commented on the size of BYU's offensive line. He says it is as big a line as they will see all year, bigger than that of Utah and Oregon; two teams that dominated the Aggies. The Ducks gained 688 total yards in their 66-24 blowout of Utah St. The Utes gained 461 yards in their 55-10 win against the Aggies.
Utah St. is coming off its first win of the season, a 42-17 win against Idaho in Logan. However, the Cougars have completely dominated their last two opponents, shutting out UCLA, 59-0 and Wyoming, 44-10.
