President Donald Trump on Sunday signed into law a $2.3 trillion pandemic aid and spending package, restoring unemployment benefits to millions of Americans and averting a federal government shutdown in a crisis of his own making.

2. US officials: Suspect in Nashville explosion died in blast

The man believed to be responsible for the Christmas Day bombing that tore through downtown Nashville blew himself up in the explosion, and appears to have acted alone, federal officials said Sunday.

3. Salt Lake firefighters rescue hiker who fell 100-plus feet

Officials from the Salt Lake City Fire Department say their heavy rescue team retrieved a 29-year-old man who fell more than 100 feet while hiking Sunday morning.

4. More than half a million people flew in America on Christmas Day

The Transportation Security Administration screened 616,469 people at airport security checkpoints across the United States on Christmas Day, the agency said Saturday.

University of Utah freshman running back Ty Jordan has died.

The University of Utah football team tweeted Saturday morning "Rest In Peace, #22. Forever in our hearts. We love you, Ty."

Shock and grief filled social media on Saturday with the news that Utah Utes running back Ty Jordan had died Friday, apparently of a gunshot wound in the Dallas suburb of Denton, Texas.

4. Fans returning to Vivint Arena is a 'breath of fresh air' for the Utah Jazz

Late in the first quarter, Dan Roberts' familiar booming voice filled Vivint Arena to remind the 1,932 fans in attendance on Saturday for Utah's first home that despite the protocols put in place to hopefully keep everyone safe, there was still risk involved in watching a game in person.

5. BYU QB Zach Wilson finishes 8th in Heisman Trophy voting, first top-10 player from BYU since 1991
