SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The FBI says it has closed an investigation into Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams without finding evidence of wrongdoing.

FBI spokesman Todd Palmer said Thursday that the agency has closed the probe into allegations of misconduct. McAdams had been accused by his former campaign manager Justin Miller of having an improper relationship with a well-connected political consulting group.

Miller pleaded guilty to a fraud charge last month connected with a $24,000 advance he gave himself to pay for catering while he was working for the mayor.

Miller acknowledged he didn't use the money for the 2014 event and didn't reimburse it.

Miller became a Democratic state lawmaker after his time working for McAdams, but resigned in conjunction with his guilty plea.

McAdams, also a Democrat, has denied any wrongdoing.
