SOUTH JORDAN — Inside an indoor climbing gym, 10-year-old Tucker stuck close to the ground. The walls are tall, the heights are high and he’s perfectly fine watching from below. “I never went on them,” Tucker said. “I don’t like heights.” Tucker knows what he likes. Just as importantly, he knows what he doesn’t. That is part of who he is. Once the conversation turns to football, though, Tucker starts to open up. “Football. That’s it,” he said, without hesitation.

A True Fan

Ask Tucker about his favorite team and the answer comes fast. “The Niners,” he said. He likes the players, he likes the culture and even if he can’t fully explain it, he knows football feels right. “I just love the Niners because they’re good,” Tucker said. “I don’t know.”

Family Matters

Tucker is one of six kids, and some of his siblings have already been adopted, and Tucker hopes one day he will be too. “One brother, four sisters,” he said. He doesn’t see them as much anymore, but when he does, their time together is simple and familiar. “We just throw the football,” Tucker said.

Looking Ahead

When Tucker talks about the future, he doesn’t dream about crowds or noise. He imagines big open spaces with room to move. “Oklahoma,” he said. “In the middle of nowhere. Like a ranch.” In his ideal world, there’s enough land to play football, ride side-by-sides, and just be outside. Tucker would do best in a family with older children or no children at all. He is seeking a home that aligns with his calm, thoughtful nature. While football is a big part of his life, Tucker says he wants to be an engineer someday. “I want to design cars,” he said. Tucker is hoping for what every child hopes for: a family that takes the time to get to know him, understands him, and gives him a place to belong.
