SALT LAKE CITY — At All Together Skatepark, 16-year-old Isaac glides across ramps and rails with ease, finding comfort and joy in the world of skateboarding. "Just like anything that involves balance, I'm really good at," Isaac said. "I'm talented at rollerblading, skateboarding, snowboarding." Isaac first picked up a skateboard at the age of 10, but it was in the past year that he began mastering tricks. His excitement over landing his first kickflip, even if imperfect, is evident. "It's my first kickflip," he said. "It's not very good quality, but I got it on camera." For Isaac, skateboarding represents more than just a hobby — it became a passion around the time he entered foster care. Over the years, he’s been fortunate to live with supportive foster families.

"I really liked my old one," Isaac shared. "They were pretty strict, but that kept me on track with my grades and stuff." Now, Isaac is ready for something permanent. "I just want people that are always there for me," he said. Isaac, who enjoys school subjects like science and math, recognizes the importance of daily guidance as he navigates his teenage years. While he has good friends and enjoys his classes, he’s looking for that one caring adult or a family that will help keep him on task. "I do just need a bit of help staying on track with everything — like chores, grades, basic things I didn’t get to learn," he said. Describing himself as motivated, stubborn and smart, Isaac channels his creativity into art and dreams of pursuing a career in graphic design. He’s particularly interested in designing skateboard decks, blending his passion for skateboarding with his artistic talents. But for now, Isaac’s goals remain rooted in skateboarding. His ambition for the year? To board slide a handrail. "It's what I want to do — it’s my goal for the next two months," he said. Isaac is looking for a family to support him as he grows into adulthood, offering the love and stability that every child deserves. With a steadfast attitude and determination, Isaac knows the road ahead will be long, but he is hopeful for the future. "I know it will be okay," he said. "It's a long road."
