OGDEN, Utah — Spend just a few minutes with Joshua, and one thing becomes clear, he loves airplanes. At the Hill Air Force Base Museum, the 12-year-old aviation enthusiast moves from aircraft to aircraft, studying every detail. “I want to steal one of these planes,” Joshua joked. Ask him which ones he likes best, and the answer comes quickly. And once he gets started, the list keeps going. “The P-47, I mean, P-51 Mustang and B-25, mostly all the World War two,” he said. “B-17 Flying Fortress, B-29, P-40, B-24, B-25, P-47, P-51, P-38.” Joshua says his fascination with aviation started at school. “Sixth grade! That's when we were talking about World War two, holocaust," he said.

Dreams for the future

When Joshua thinks about the future, aviation is still front and center. He dreams about becoming a mechanic in the Air Force. His is already thinking about bringing historic planes back. “I’m bringing back the original… jet fighter. Messerschmitt ME262," Joshua said.

Hoping for something steady

Behind the aircraft facts and big dreams is a young boy hoping for something many kids want: stability. Joshua is currently in foster care. Even though he no longer lives with his sister, they still stay connected. “We talk on FaceTime!” Joshua said. “Mostly about… funny stuff.”

What Joshua hopes for

When asked what he hopes for in a family, Joshua’s answer is simple. “They will still be at my house and when I come back they will still be there and not moved away," he said. “I don’t want to worry about too much trouble."
