SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker issued a public letter Tuesday announcing Proposition 1 will be on the November ballot.
Prop 1 will allocate $125 million in bonds for a new Public Safety Building, Emergency Operations Center and an underground parking structure.
In the letter, Becker says, if approved, the bonds would require a tax increase of "$6.25 per month or $75 per year for the average residential property and $43.52 per month or $522.32 per year for the average business."
The new facilities would replace the current building on 200 South and 300 East, which is an out-dated and aging structure.
Becker closes the letter by pleading for public support.
"The need is critical; we can't wait another day. We must be assured we will have the emergency services when we need them the most."
