PROVO -- BYU student projects were awarded both the first and second place student Emmy awards in the animation category from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on Saturday.
BYU's film "Kites" was awarded first place and a second BYU student project "Pajama Gladiator" was awarded second place.
These are the 8th and 9th Emmy awards received by BYU for animation in the last six years.
The winning projects competed with 712 student entries from 214 schools in 42 states.
Producers from BYU were able to attend the ceremony and receive their awards in Los Angeles during a black tie ceremony hosted by ABC's Tom Bergeron.
