SARATOGA SPRINGS — A 46-year-old man arrested following an hours-long standoff in Utah County with police on Halloween night, who also allegedly pointed a gun at his wife and threw objects out a window at officers trying to arrest him, now faces several charges.

David Glenn Logsdon, of Saratoga Springs, was charged Thursday in 4th District Court with assault on a police officer, threatening a police officer and causing property damage, second-degree felonies; aggravated assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child, third-degree felonies, and public intoxication, a class C misdemeanor.

Saturday night, Logsdon and his wife got into an argument after both had been drinking, according to charging documents. The couple was watching their 1-year-old granddaughter at the time who had been put to bed in the basement.

The wife told investigators that her husband "retrieved a handgun, pointed it at her, and threatened to kill her and then himself. She described Logsdon repeatedly pointing the gun at her and at his own head," the charges state. "In a later interview, (she) recalled that Logsdon pulled the slide back several times. She did not recall him firing the gun."

The woman was able to run from the home and call 911. Officers responding to the scene found her several blocks away, according to the charges.

After telling police that her grandchild was still in the home, officers surrounded the home "and heard sounds they believed were gunshots. They saw Logsdon at an upstairs window with blood on him. He did not comply with commands to show his hands and surrender," the charge state.

An "immediate action team" was formed by officers on scene who entered the home and safely retrieved the baby from the basement, according to the charges.

By that point, the Utah County Sheriff's Office and Lehi police were called to assist. An armored vehicle was also deployed to the rear of the home, a police booking affidavit states.

While trying to negotiate with Logsdon, he "yelled that he wanted to fight, and that he had a gun and plenty of ammunition. Officers reported that Logsdon threw a computer monitor, glass bottles, and books from the upstairs window directed at them. Several objects nearly struck officers below," the charges state.

Logsdon barricaded himself inside the home and threatened to shoot anyone who entered, according to the charges.

After trying for 3 1/2 hours to get Logsdon to peacefully surrender, "officers deployed chemical munitions into the barricaded room. Logsdon came out and was taken into custody," the charges state.

He was treated on scene for cuts to his arm, including officers applying a tourniquet, and then taken to a local hospital before being booked into jail.

Inside the home, police recovered two handguns.

"Although investigators recovered a deformed cartridge casing, they did not identify a spent casing confirming that Logsdon had fired a handgun. Officers also documented a broken office window, broken furniture, and damage elsewhere in the home," the charges state.
