WASHINGTON — Almost anyone who was a child or who watched cartoons from 2007 to 2015 knows of the iconic red- and green-haired stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb — and their secret crime-fighting pet, Perry the Platypus.

Devoted fans of the show have been fortunate to see a revival of the cartoon this year, as an additional season was released on Disney+.

With another season comes more marketing, including a premiere party where the voice actors sang some of the beloved songs of the franchise. But just when everyone thought the special performances were done, "Phineas and Ferb" creator Dan Povenmire made a surprise appearance at a Bowling For Soup concert on June 15 in Washington, D.C.

Povenmire swept onto the stage dressed as Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, the character he voices in the show. The evil scientist attempted to stop the band from singing the TV show's theme song, which was originally recorded for the show by Bowling For Soup.

The crowd reacted appropriately with cheers for Doof, following along with his call-and-response about Perry the Platypus.

Lead singer Jaret Reddick started up the "Phineas and Ferb" theme song as the crowd sang along to the beloved tune, calling out the spoken parts that are featured in the song, such as "It's over here!" and older sister Candace's classic, "Phineas!"

Povenmire danced along to the music and beamed from the stage as he heard so many people sing the theme song of his television creation. As a "Phineas and Ferb" fan, it was such a wholesome thing to see and I wish I could've been there in person.

So now that the summer solstice has officially passed, the only question left to ask is: What are you going to do with the 104 days of summer?
