OGDEN — Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music announced the lineup for 2024's Ogden Music Festival, full of diverse styles and award-winning musicians.
The 16th annual festival, held at Fort Buenaventura Park in Weber County from May 31 to June 2, will feature multiple music genres including nontraditional bluegrass.
"This year celebrates the diversity of bluegrass music, from traditional to experimental, and beyond to diverse voices in Americana, soul, rock, mariachi and honky tonk. We go even further with disco-delic and Son Jarocho folk-rock," festival co-director Reba Nissen said.
The three-day festival has gained popularity for its family-friendly atmosphere, on-site camping, workshops, jam sessions, kids' activities and more.
The festival stage will be graced by Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Sarah Jarosz, Celisse, Hayes Carll, Say She She, Las Cafeteras, Pixie & The Partygrass Boys, Twisted Pine, The Slocan Ramblers, Wyatt Ellis, Josie O and The Big Six, and Mariachi Aguilas de la Esperanza.
Tuttle and Jarosz have both performed at the festival before and Jarosz has four Grammy awards. Tuttle won a Grammy award in 2023, has a nomination for the 2024 awards and was the first woman to earn Guitar Player of the Year from the International Bluegrass Music Awards in 2017.
"Molly Tuttle and her guitar are on fire. Having her bluegrass professor father guide her, she was immersed in the music festival environment at an early age," Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music founder Michelle Tanner said. "Her story represents what (Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music) is all about — nurturing the next generation of musicians."
Made up of Utah natives, Pixie and the Partygrass Boys are returning to the festival with their "newgrass" sound, a mix of rock, punk and bluegrass.
Tanner said many of the artists on the lineup this year have been on her "wish list."
"Let's hope for some collaborations that bring that Ogden Music Festival 'magic' to the stage," Tanner said.
Tickets for the festival are on sale and kids under age 16 get free admission.
