CLEARFIELD — City officials in Clearfield announced Thursday there have been reports across Davis County about yellow water in homes.

Clearfield officials said none of the cities are sure what the source or cause of the yellow water is, but the cities are working with Weber Basin Water to figure it out.

Clearfield, Syracuse, Kaysville, Sunset, Clinton and West Point in Davis County, and Roy and Hooper in Weber County have all reported the discoloration, though harmless, according to experts. The Clearfield social media post said there were also reports of yellow water in Layton, but city officials there said had not received any.

Weber Basin Water general manager Scott Paxman said the department first got reports of yellow water on social media around 11 a.m. Clearfield, Layton and Kaysville collected around 60 samples that were all tested and came back clean and safe to drink, Paxman said.

Kaysville's public works department advises affected residents to run cold water until the water runs clear.

Syracuse officials said the city conducts routine water sampling and all samplings from this week have returned clean.

"We are committed to ensuring the safety of our culinary water and will continue testing samples and monitoring the situation," a statement from Syracuse said.

Anyone who experiences water discoloration should contact their local public works department.
