SALT LAKE CITY — Graduation season overlaps with championship season for Utah high school sports in spring, adding the capstone of an athletic season to commencement ceremonies.
The Utah High School Activities Association's spring title season is about to grow, too, when boys volleyball joins the field next year. But for now, here's a look at more than 40 championships that were won in all six classifications before the end of May.
In the spirit of Juan Diego's baseball team publicly thanking Juab after the 3A state title game that clinched the Wasps' first championship in 25 years, we congratulate every team that won a championship during the 2022-23 school year — a year unlikely any other.
Sportsmanship.

The spring caps off the busiest season of high school sports championships across the state.
In all, Lone Peak won the most championships among the UHSAA's 158 member schools in 27 activities across six classifications, capped by Timpanogos baseball's first title since 2017 in the 5A championship final late Saturday night. The Knights added eight championships to the trophy case, the most in 6A.
3A Morgan followed closely with seven titles, while 1A Panguitch and 6A Corner Canyon added five each. 6A Skyridge, 5A Skyline, 4A Crimson Cliffs and 3A Juab each totaled four championships from the 2022-23 school year, a season that added one activity — competitive cheer — to the association's list of sanctioned activities.
