SALT LAKE CITY — With the final swing of his senior season, Rowland Hall's Luca Bresloff clinched a sweep of the Winged Lions' singles players, and put the final nail in a five-year quest to make it back on top.

Bresloff's 6-0, 7-5 win over Grantsville's Camden Killian added a third state singles title to go with Jaiden Handlon and Eric Lu's second individual championship as Rowland Hall pulled away for its first 3A boys tennis championship since 2018.

"Waterford lost a couple of big players, but we've had a few seniors including myself who worked hard and wanted to win state for a while," Bresloff said. "I think it's great for the younger guys, to get a championship back — and hopefully these guys can continue it and keep playing strong."

Jaiden Handlon added an individual title in first singles, and Eric Lu won his second individual championship for the Winged Lions, who ended Waterford's three-year run as 3A state champions.

Waterford held off Ogden by one point for second place, with Juab and American Heritage rounding out the top five.

The Lions (and every other tennis competitor) capped a long weekend with bliss, after scattered thunderstorms across the Salt Lake Valley delayed Saturday's finals several times (and moved the accompanying 5A tournament to the Salt Lake Tennis Club, while 3A competitors finished at Liberty Park).

"Yesterday was nice, nice and calm and easy. Today there was weather off the bat, and I was kind of looking forward to watching 5A," Bresloff said. "I don't really like playing in the bubble, either.

"It's definitely just relief," he added. "I'm proud of everyone for winning; it's nice to finally win."
