ROME, Ga. — A Brigham Young University-Idaho alum was stabbed to death in Rome, Georgia, over the weekend.

Aaron William Davis, 21, of Cumming, Georgia, was found with multiple stab wounds, and was carrying a university identification card, according to an article by the Rome News-Tribune. BYU-Idaho's alumni office confirmed that a student matching Davis' description and hometown graduated from the university in July.

Rome police received a tip of an abandoned car and the ensuing search led to the discovery of Davis' body near Tumlin Drive.

Rome is located northwest of Atlanta, around 10 miles from the Alabama border. Cumming is approximately 70 miles east of Rome.

Police arrested Brandon Christopher Risner, 21, of Rome, for investigation of felony murder, aggravated assault and obstruction of law enforcement in Davis' death, according to arrest warrants. Risner was still being held in Floyd County Jail as of Monday morning.

Investigators say Risner was involved in an altercation "which caused the death of the victim," then he "attempted to conceal the body by removing it from the scene to another area off of Tumlin Drive," the warrant states. Police said Risner initially ran from officers during the investigation and disobeyed commands to stop.

Brandon Christopher Risner, 21, of Rome, Georgia, was arrested Saturday for investigation of murder in the stabbing death of Aaron William Davis, 21, of Cumming, Georgia, a recent graduate of BYU-Idaho.
