HOME SWEET HOME — There are some things in life that it's easy to take for granted, including birthday cake.
Abraham is originally from Sierra Leone, and he and he brother were recently adopted by a family in North Carolina. That experience comes with a lot of firsts: first airplane ride, first hamburger, and, yes, a first birthday cake.
On his 12th birthday, Abraham's new family presented him with a birthday cake with his name on it. In the video, the top is ablaze with candles, but Abraham is too overwhelmed to look at the cake for more than a few seconds.
With tears of joy, he runs to his dad and hugs and hugs him, not wanting to let go as his family encourages him to make a wish and blow out the candles. But first, mom needs a big hug too.
Finally, Abraham blows out his candles, but whoopsie daisy, he forgot to make a wish. However, there's no harm in relighting the candles and letting him make a secret wish, especially, when it's your first birthday cake ever and your first birthday celebration ever.
"I never celebrate them. I never knew it was my birthday," Abraham told Steve Hartman on CBS Evening News. "When I see the cake, I thought that is the most beautifulest thing I've ever seen," he said. "It's not just a birthday cake. It's a blessing cake."
Of course, Abraham's story has gone viral in its wholesomeness. It's hard not to smile and shed a tear or two when you see exuberance and joy like Abraham's.
