TAYLORSVILLE — Taylorsville police are looking for two men involved in an argument that ended in gunfire and two men being taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

The incident happened off Atherton Drive and 4500 South at the Atherton Park Apartments shortly before 7 p.m., said Taylorsville Police Sgt. Kresdon Bennett. When police arrived, they first found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg and then a second man with a gunshot wound in the leg. Both men are in their mid-20s.

The two injured men are in stable condition.

Witnesses told police that there was an argument between four men — including the two injured men — and then shots were fired, Bennett said. Two men in their late teens to early 20s later fled the scene in "potentially a black Chevy passenger car."

There is no danger to the community at the time because police believe the two groups may have history, Bennett said.

Neighbors told KSL-TV there's crime in this area all the time, but never quite like this.

"We were standing here and next thing we hear is 'pa pow pop' and then we run upstairs and then I went into my back window and saw a guy limping," said DesRae Romyn.

That was the second round of gunfire Romyn heard. The first was just moments earlier.

"The first one, I'm like, that's not a gun. Like no," she said.

Summer and Shane Powers say they were just getting home from the grocery store when a lady was driving out of the complex, very emotional.

"She was bawling," said Shane Powers.

"We asked her what happened and she just started sobbing," said Shane Powers.
