SPANISH FORK — A mother and her four children, all under the age of 10, were injured after the vehicle they were in was struck by a Union Pacific train, the Utah County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
The mother and her children, all occupants of a minivan, were crossing the tracks, at 7124 S. 2400 East, when the vehicle was hit by the train, Sgt. Spencer Cannon said.

The mother was seriously injured, but is expected to recover. And, the four children received minor injuries, Cannon said.
The crossing where the accident happened is marked with a stop sign, he added. The names of the family members involved in the crash were not released.
