SALT LAKE CITY — Break out your cowboy boots and hats: Country superstar Garth Brooks is performing in Utah this summer.

Brooks' stadium tour will stop by Rice-Eccles Stadium on the University of Utah campus on July 17, according to a news release.

Tickets go on sale May 6 at 10 a.m. and cost $94.95 each. More information about how to buy tickets is available at ticketmaster.com/garthbrooks.

The Garth Brooks concert will be the biggest show at Rice-Eccles Stadium in 10 years, according to the release. Rock band U2 played the stadium in 2011.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox tweeted his excitement about the show on Wednesday morning.

"I can't wait to be there in person," he said.

Brooks' stadium tour kicked off in 2019 and has broken attendance records at every stop so far, the release said. His previous Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood sold over 6.3 million tickets.

The University of Utah and Rice-Eccles Stadium are still requiring face coverings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stadium staff will be assisting with the implementation of safety measures during the show.
