18-year-old killed in West Valley City shooting

WEST VALLEY CITY — An 18-year-old man died after being shot at Kings Pointe Park Saturday evening.

The incident happened just after 6 p.m., West Valley City Police officals said on Twitter. Two groups confronted each other at the park which ultimately led to the man being shot. Officials say a suspect fled the scene.

The victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Police later announced he died from his injuries.

Additional information, including the identity of the man killed or the suspect, was not released.

An investigation is underway. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police at 801-840-4000.
