WEST JORDAN — Two people are dead following a shooting in West Jordan on Sunday night, authorities said.

The deceased were later identified on Monday by police as Terence Neilsen, 27, of Alabama and Anthony Dawson, 29, of Utah.

The shooting occurred in a garage at 7133 S. Callie Drive, West Jordan officer Scott List said.

A firearm was recovered on the scene, and officers do not believe there is a suspect at large, List stated. Police believe one of the men involved in the shooting may have been the shooter, and drugs and alcohol may have been involved.

West Jordan police Lt. Chaundra Edmonds said they are treating the case as a double homicide, but there is a possibility of it being a murder-suicide.

According to Edmonds, a family of five living at the address allowed a homeless man to stay in their garage. On Sunday evening, a friend of the homeless man visited. Upon hearing gunshots, the homeowner called 911 and discovered one man dead and another in critical condition.

List later confirmed Sunday night that the man in critical condition died.
