SALT LAKE CITY — Unified police have arrested two people in connection with a cold case homicide.

Jerah Jean Santos Ramirez, 29, of Las Vegas, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail over the weekend on warrants for aggravated murder, murder and obstructing justice, according to jail records.

Victoria Nancy Clown, 28, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, was booked on the same charges on Nov. 17.

The two are accused in connection with the 2009 death of Lester Lloyd Janise in Midvale.

According to the Unified Police Department's cold case web page, Janise "was a spiritual leader among the Native Americans" as well as a Vietnam War veteran who earned a Purple Heart.

Though Janise lived alone, he had company from out of state stay with him shortly before his death, according to police.

"Officers responded to a call and found Lester dead in his apartment at 7895 S. Candlestick Lane (80 E.) on the afternoon of Jan. 13, 2009," police stated.

Investigators believe he had been dead, however, since the end of December 2008.

"The cause of death was ligature strangulation," police stated.

All court documents regarding the details of their arrests have been sealed. A press conference with Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera and District Attorney Sim Gill was scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at which time more details of the case are expected to be released.
