SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Though a wrongful death lawsuit is still pending, part of a legal fight connected to a man fatally shot by Salt Lake City police in 2014 has been settled.

Attorneys for the family of 20-year-old Dillon Taylor say brother Jerrail Taylor and cousin Adam Thayne have received an $85,000 settlement from Salt Lake City, South Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County for their alleged "unconstitutional arrest" after Dillon Taylor was shot.

Thayne and Jerrail Taylor were handcuffed for hours after the shooting despite requests to remove handcuffs. They were both detained for more than five hours though neither was suspected of a crime.

Taylor, 20, was unarmed when Officer Bron Cruz fatally shot him Aug. 11, 2014, outside a convenience store. Cruz was found to be justified in the shooting.
