Indiana Jones will be in South Jordan tonight to check out the latest Indiana Jones movie. No, really!
It's actually 10-year-old Indiana Jones Norton, whose dad says unlike Harrison Ford's Indiana, this Indy doesn't have an aversion to snakes.
"He's very much every inch of a 10-year-old little boy, and he loves snakes and loves the Indiana Jones movies. It fits his personality very, very well," Mike Norton said.
Mike says he knew in 1976 his son was never going to have a normal name.
"There were five Michael's in my [third grade] class," he said. He was determined his child wouldn't have the same problem.
So when he found out he was going to have a son, he told his wife he wanted to name him Indiana Jones Norton. She rolled her eyes and said, "Whatever."
"As a typical guy, I took that as a yes. So I'm all, ‘Yes! All right!'" he said.
It took some talking into, but Indy is now 10 years old and a student at Adams Elementary, where his friends think his name is pretty cool.
"We usually call him Indy, or we'll call him Indiana. A nickname I have for him, I actually call him Dr. Jones," one friend said.
Indy will go with his dad to watch the other Indy's return to the big screen tonight at 7:30.
