SALT LAKE CITY — The National Park Service announced the dates in 2015 that entrance fees will be waived at any national park in the U.S.
Monday will be the first day of the year where entrance fees are waived, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, according to a Bryce Canyon National Park news release. Whether you enter any national park by car, RV, skiing or snowshoeing, the entrance fee will be waived for recreational visits.
The National Park Service is waiving entrance fees during nine days in 2015. The free entrance is part of an initiative “to encourage people to get outdoors and enjoy the remarkable landscapes and historical cultural sites national parks have to offer,” the news release said.
Utah is home to five national parks — Bryce Canyon, Zion, Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyonlands — and provides a good opportunity to visit.
The free dates for 2015 are:
- Jan. 19: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Feb. 14-16: President’s Day Weekend
- April 18-19: Opening weekend of National Park Week
- Aug. 25: National Park Service’s 99th Birthday
- Sept. 26: National Public Lands’ Day
- Nov. 11: Veteran’s Day
