SOUR TOWN — One would be hard-pressed to find someone young or old in America who hasn’t heard the optimistic phrase “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”
I propose a newer and perhaps more realistic twist on this idiom: When life gives you lemons, have a sense of humor about eating lemons because you might not have enough sugar to make lemonade. (It just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?)
As a demonstration for how you, too, can embrace this modernized idiom, I present this adorably hilarious video of a baby’s reaction when eating a literal lemon.
The baby bites into a lemon slice with confidence but quickly realizes something is wrong. His grimace turns to a couple of violent shudders, shaking the world around him as he processes his sour fate.
But instead of panicking or crying, the baby giggles and delights in the sensation. He goes through a few more face-altering struggles — even trying to shake the sour flavor from his head — before reaching out for another taste of lemon.
