SALT LAKE CITY — People who make at least six figures a year and are looking for love online tend to be iPhone users, while their Android counterparts make on average less than $60,000 a year, according to new data from a mobile dating application.

AYI.com is a dating site that integrates with Facebook, iOS and Android to hook up potential soul mates. It recently compiled data gleaned from its users and was able to determine a few differences between customers who access the site via an Android phone versus an iPhone.

For example, Android users were 50 percent more likely to have red hair than iPhone daters. Android users were also 33 percent more likely to have children and 20 percent more likely to have been divorced before, according to information presented in a recent AYI blogpost.

When it came to education, data collected from iPhone users showed they were twice as likely to have a master’s degree and 55 percent more likely to have a 4-year bachelor’s degree. It showed 28 percent of Android users had a degree from a university and 72 percent had not completed a post-high school degree.

“iPhone and Android have been at war since the beginning of time (or at least since smartphones were created),” AYI said on its blog. “The battle rages on, even in the world of online dating.”

Using the profile information provided by its users, AYI determined that, overall, iPhone users presented themselves as more desirable dating options.

“With 2.4 million mobile downloads of the AYI.com app in the United States, we were able to examine nearly 20 million interactions between our users and discovered that iOS users reigned supreme as they were contacted 17 percent more often than Android users — meaning they are the most desirable mobile daters,” AYI said on its blog.

However, Android users were rated as the more forward daters as they were 12 percent more likely than iOS users to contact someone on AYI.com.
