SALT LAKE CITY — New data about smartphone usage shows interesting divides between the way men and women spend their time on mobile devices.
Financesonline.com collects data that deals with technology and social media use. It recently published an infographic online outlining new data regarding the difference in the way men and women consume social media applications on their smartphones.
“Apparently, the gender difference revolves around three distinct areas: our personal and professional relationships, the need for information and entertainment and consumer behavior,” financesonline.com states on its website.
The data shows 13 percent of men use social media for dating compared to just 7 percent of women. However, 71 percent of women will “like” a deal or Facebook page to follow sale deals, compared to 18 percent of men.
“Surprisingly, women ignore paid advertising more often than men,” according to financesonline.com. “This makes sense because women in general are more conscious of their social circle and ads are intrusive strangers.”
The data also found that women play games on their smartphones 10 percent more than men and dominate general smartphone usage like Web browsing, downloading applications and camera use.
