SAN FRANCISCO — An entire city will help a boy with cancer and a desire to rescue others get his wish this month.
On Nov. 15, Make-A-Wish is asking the city of San Francisco to come together as Gotham City for Miles, a 5-year-old boy with leukemia, who wants to be “Batkid.”
The organization has set up a day of rescues and cheers for Miles. His first step will be to rescue a damsel-in-distress stuck on cable-car tracks in Nob Hill. After that he will stop the Puzzler from robbing a bank vault.
Miles will get another chance to be a hero after lunch, when a crowd of San Franciscans will ask for his help rescuing Lou Seal – the Giants' mascot – from Mr. P. Batkid will chase the villain and apprehend him before stopping at City Hall.
At City Hall, Mayor Ed Lee and the police chief will present their hero Miles with a key to the city and another crowd of volunteers will cheer on the boy with a desire to make his city a safer place.
“Miles may only be 5 years old but he is fighting a very adult battle, one that we hope he will win,” Make-A-Wish wrote in a press release. “Miles has leukemia. He is a bright, positive, little boy who finds inspiration in super-heroes.”
