SALT LAKE CITY — Lee Trevino may be a six-time major champion and a staple in professional golf, but he'll likely always be remembered for his cameo in "Happy Gilmore."

Many golfers view the 1996 Adam Sandler comedy as one of the greatest golf movies of all time, and everyone knows Trevino's famous line, "Grizzly Adams did have a beard."

But despite being recognized as the Grizzly Adams guy, Trevino says he regrets doing the film.

Lee Trevino regrets 'Happy Gilmore' role

During a speech at the UT Tyler's Patriot Golf Classic in Tyler, Texas, Trevino said he wished he had read the entire script for "Happy Gilmore" before agreeing to be in the film.

"If they were going to use all those foul words in there, I never would have done it," Trevino said.

It's interesting to hear the hall of famer express his dislike for the film and regretting the role. While Trevino made a name for himself on the course it was "Happy Gilmore" that made him a pop icon. But you have to give it to Trevino for speaking his mind and expressing his values.
