LOGAN — After outgrowing their previous location, the Alpine Church in Logan is preparing for their new location's grand opening in less than a month.
The grand opening of their new building, located at 91 East 2440 N. North Logan, will allow church members to reach out to homes near their new building and invite them to worship with them.
Originally located at 395 S. Main Street, the building and parking lot were not large enough for their entire congregation. The church hosted three different services each Sunday, according to Pastor John Belles.
He said they could potentially make the original building work, but it would mean attendees would be forced to park multiple blocks away while the church added a fourth Sunday service.
Rather than coordinating those changes, the church has been looking for a new building with a better parking situation. Their new building is only about four miles north.
While growth is important, Belles said he doesn't want the new building to grow into a so-called mega-church. If they outgrow the new location, Belles predicts they will launch a brand new campus, potentially in Hyrum, Utah.
The Alpine Church already has six different locations across northern Utah, with locations in Logan in Cache County, Brigham City in Box Elder County, West Haven and Riverdale in Weber County and Syracuse and Layton in Davis County.
Before their first Sunday at the new Logan location, Belles expected most of their flock would come to the new building.
"We certainly hope the vast majority of those come with us," Belles said. "That's our expectation. There will be a few people who miss the small church feel who may choose not to go, but the vast majority will."
His words were proven during the two Sunday services Alpine Church held on August 16. Steve Rodriguez, a member of the pastoral team at the Alpine Church in Logan, said there were at least 650 people attending at the new building between the two sessions.

"It's been amazing," Rodriguez said. Their rush to prepare the new building before Sunday was "overwhelming," according to Rodriguez, but he said it all came together in the nick of time, thanks to the help from many different community members who gathered together to help.
Between the first Sunday service and the grand opening, Rodriguez said that time would be used to "iron out" any challenges that arise with their transfer to the new building. He had been serving on the pastoral team since the beginning of 2026, and he said serving there has been a "godsend."
"Doing God's work in the community and being a servant of the Lord is... it's a blessing," he said. "You give up some things you love for things you love more."
Belles said that after last week's services, they had already made changes to the format of the service, rearranging chairs to help improve traffic flow inside the chapel. He said he is excited for the grand opening in less than a month.
"It's maximum excitement as we prepare for the 20th," Belles said. "We're looking forward to how God will continue to use Alpine Church to help people to pursue Him."
