SANDY — An Arizona man accused of stabbing his brother multiple times during a fight at his Sandy home now faces criminal charges.
Orlando James Badonie, 36, of Kaibito, Arizona, was charged Tuesday in 3rd District Court with aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, a second-degree felony.
About 3 a.m. on May 18, Badonie got into a fight with his 30-year-old brother at the brother's home near 1200 East and 9800 South. During the argument, Badonie told police he "grabbed a knife from the kitchen of the residence and slashed (his brother's) arm. Badonie stated that he then stabbed (his brother) a few other times and that the knife 'went like butter' into (him)," according to charging documents.
The brother was unconscious and "severely bleeding" when emergency crews arrived. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for four stab wounds and underwent surgery for life-threatening injuries, the charges state. As of Tuesday, he remained "in the hospital in an unstable condition," according to prosecutors.
