(KSL News) Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch says the guilty verdict returned against Alaska lawmaker Ted Stevens is "disappointing."
Stevens was convicted of seven counts of lying on financial disclosure forms in Washington yesterday.
During the trial Hatch was called as a character witness for Stevens, calling the senator a "fine, decent, honorable man."
Speaking to the Salt Lake Tribune Hatch said his prayers were with Stevens and his wife at this difficult time.
