(KSL News) Hazmat crews have finished cleaning up hydrochloric acid spilled on Interstate 80 yesterday, but the driver of the semi and the company responsible for the acid has some messy bills to pay.
A South Salt Lake ordinance requires compensation for the costs associated with such accidents. The cost of this spill that tied up traffic for hours last night is estimated at about 40-thousand dollars.
UHP cited the driver for improperly securing the cargo.
Three drivers were also cited when they broke through blockades on the closed road.
