Burning semi causes road closure near Zion National Park

The main road into Zion National Park was closed for an hour today because of a fire that burned a semi truck.

Pictures sent to us by Jerry Christensen show the semi on fire on State Road 9 between Virgin and Rockville.

The truck had unloaded in Springdale and was headed back down the canyon when a tire blew. A spark from the truck's magnesium ignited a flame that spread from the cab to the trailer.

The driver managed to get out without injuries.
