Brandon Sanderson to join John Green on his book tour in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY — Utahns have the chance to hear from authors John Green and Brandon Sanderson together when Sanderson joins Green as a special guest on his book tour for the upcoming book "Hollywood Ending."

Green is best known for his young adult novels "Looking for Alaska" and "The Fault in Our Stars." He announced his 20-city book tour last month. The tour begins on Sept. 20 in Toronto, Canada, and ends on Oct. 13 in Los Angeles.

On Wednesday, Green announced a number of special guests who will be joining him for specific tour dates, including Sanderson, who will join him for the Salt Lake City stop.

Sanderson and Green will be appearing in Salt Lake City in an event hosted by The King's English Bookshop on Oct. 10 at West High School. The event is part of the Utah Humanities Book Festival, a monthlong festival celebrating authors and literature.

During the event, Green will discuss his new book, and he and Sanderson will answer audience questions.

What is the new book about?

"Hollywood, Ending" is Green's adult fiction debut and is his first novel in nine years. The book will be released on Sept. 22 and can be preordered online.

The book follows Kai Laramie and Juniper Castillo, two rising actors who are cast in a major biopic about Andy Warhol. The pair find their lives changing in major, exciting and unsettling ways as the movie brings them attention, fame and each other.

The novel's summary calls it a "behind-the-scenes Hollywood love story" that "juxtaposes the on-screen study of Warhol's life at the dawn of celebrity culture with the intimate struggles of two young people figuring out who they are, both together and alone."

Earlier this week, Green posted a video on Instagram of him reading the opening of the book.
