SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Salt Lake County Council Chairman Joe Hatch says he won't seek re-election in 2010.

Hatch is one of Utah's highest-profile Democrats and has served in office nearly a decade.

He says he won't seek re-election because he believes in term limits. He'll complete his third term next year.

Hatch is a labor attorney who joined the council in 2001 when the county abandoned its commission form of government.
