WEST JORDAN -- A school bus and pickup truck hit each other at the intersection of 1300 West and 9000 South in West Jordan around 8 a.m. Friday.

The driver of the pickup truck tells KSL Newsradio he was waiting to make a left-hand turn when the light turned yellow. He thought an oncoming school bus was going to stop because the light was about to turn red, but it did not. The two hit as the pickup truck was making the turn.

The bus was carrying Jordan School District high school students being shuttled to what the district calls the East Tech Center. The school district says no students were hurt and they were put on another bus and went on their way.

The bus had a small amount of damage on the front driver's side. The pickup truck had extensive front-end damage.

The driver of the pickup truck says police gave him a ticket.
