Andrew Adams, KSL Newsradio A Salt Lake robber picked the wrong house to go into. It all took place near 400 North and 300 West.

John Hansen, Homeowner: "This door jam was completely off the wall."

John Hansen points out the damage as workers fix his door. It all started when he came home to a robber.

"He told me he was going to stab me, but he took his hand out of his pocket and there was nothing in his hand, so I figured he was bluffing."

John then decided to go for it. He kicked the guy in the face and struggled with him to the front door. That is when the robber grabbed a cane and was about to hit John.

John Hansen: "I blocked it with my arm, broke it in half, then I grabbed the other piece and started to beat him with it. He begged me to let him go and that he wouldn't take my stuff. I kind of basically told him where to go."

The robber did manage to escape.

Andrew Adams, KSLNewsradio: "(John) kind of had like a little Dirty Harry vibe?"

Gina says she wouldn't mess with her boyfriend. That robber probably won't again, either.
