(KSL News) A couple and their 2 young children escaped a house fire this morning in Salt Lake City.
The family living near 1200 South and 1500 West awoke just after 3 a.m. to the smell of smoke. They called 911 and got out of the house safely.

Firefighters were able to douse the fire in about 15 minutes, but the garage and car inside were destroyed. The house has some smoke damage, so the family is staying somewhere else for now.
Investigators are looking into where the fire started and what caused it.
