FARMINGTON — Mother Nature hasn't delivered many visible signs of winter to Utah so far this season — at least outside of higher-elevation areas — but there is still more than a month to go before the official start to spring.
At Lagoon Amusement Park, families could be riding their favorite roller coasters before the end of March.
The park announced on its social media page last week that it will open for the 2026 season on March 28, subject to weather and other factors. Lagoon will open only on weekends at first, with hours of operation from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
The park will stay open until 9 p.m. on Saturdays starting in May, before transitioning to seven days a week with longer hours starting Memorial Day weekend.
Those planning to visit Lagoon can look forward to its newest attraction, the Nutcracker.
Lagoon unveiled plans for the high-flying swing ride in October.
Thrill seekers taking flight on the Nutcracker will fly up to nearly 150 feet above the ground, "putting them at the same height as the Sky Coaster," Julie Freed, Lagoon's director of special events, said during a press conference in October.
Lagoon has not announced an exact opening date for the Nutcracker but said it is slated to open this year.
Another change this year is the absence of Jet Star 2, one of the many long-standing roller coasters at Lagoon Amusement Park, which the park retired at the end of last season. 2026 would've marked the 1,900-foot roller coaster's 50th year in Farmington, as it made its Lagoon debut in 1976.
The amusement park's full operating calendar is available at lagoonpark.com.
