Other police officers, who were en route to the address in response to the original trespass call, arrived soon after and were able to take the person into custody.

Shearer said the injured officer was taken to the hospital in "fair" condition, meaning the person is expected to be OK.

The suspect was arrested for investigation of assault on a police officer and trespassing.
