HOLLADAY — A man was arrested Thursday for allegedly shooting another person a week ago in Holladay.
Francisco Jesus Moreno, 38, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, illegal shooting of a gun causing serious injury, being a restricted person in possession of a gun, drug possession with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Aug. 24, Unified police responded to a shooting in a Holladay apartment. Four people, including Moreno, were in a bedroom as a woman was folding laundry and the victim was sitting near the foot of the bed, according to a police booking affidavit.
"The witness said she told the victim to stop talking to her like that after he made a rude comment to her. The victim asked something along the lines of, 'Well, who's going to stop me?' and made a rude comment toward (Moreno)," the affidavit states.
Moreno responded by telling the other man to stand up.
"The victim did, and Cisco pulled a gun out of his waistband and shot the victim in his left leg," according to the affidavit.
The man was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery to treat his fractured leg.
With the help of a screenshot from a doorbell camera, police said they identified Moreno as the gunman and located him on Thursday. He was in possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia and a gun at the time of his arrest, the affidavit says.
