LEHI — The Utah high school football season has officially begun, and Week 1 wasted no time delivering a standout performance.

Skyridge quarterback Kaneal Sweetwyne put together a dazzling display Friday night, setting the tone for what could be a special senior season. As such, Sweetwyne was named this week's high school football player of the week, which is presented with support by Cafe Rio.

Sweetwyne led the Falcons to a commanding 52-17 victory over Mountain Ridge on Friday, showcasing both his arm and legs in one of the most complete performances of his career.

The senior signal-caller completed 26-of-31 passes on an impressive 83% completion rate for 385 yards and five touchdowns. He also proved dangerous on the ground, rushing for 98 yards and another score, giving him six total touchdowns on the night.

Sweetwyne's big night also comes at an interesting point in his recruiting journey. After originally committing to BYU in February, the four-star quarterback decommitted earlier this month, announcing that his recruitment is now 100% wide open.

With performances like Friday, expect his name to remain high on the radar of college coaches across the country.
